I still think that list style articles (IE: Top 5, Top 7, Best 10 ways to xxxx) are the best ways to get people to your site…

These are simple to read and generally have the key information people are looking for.

Good points. There is a lot of work involved though! I’ve just added a blog onto our site (I’m new to the whole process of blogging) and I guess the key is to have interesting, relevant content (which we’re a little short at at the moment, I’ll have to keep nagging my colleagues!) – it’s going to take time but with tips like yours above I’m looking forward to the challenge, thanks!

I agree with John’s comment there. Applying that logic when thinking if something could harm my site often helps me with certain link building decisions. I think most techniques won’t hurt you but some will help more than others.

I agree, Tom and if duplicate content on other sites resulted in being penalized naughty people would be going around posting duplicate content with links to their websites so penalize their competitors!

Hi Jeff, there’s a huge misconception about duplicate content in regards to article marketing. Some people think that if you submit the same article to hundreds of article directories, this will result in penalties from Google. This is simply not true. The only time duplicate content becomes a problem is when you have the same exact article on different pages within the SAME domain! In other words, when Google finds the same two pages of duplicated content within the same domain, one will be indexed and the other ignored.

To outsource your article writing, you should definitely try Elance.com, GetAFreelancer.com, or NeedAnArticle.com.

Hi Tom, it’s interesting what you say about about submitting articles to multiple directories as I have heard the contrary based on duplicate content issues. I shall test out your theory after reading this post though!

Anyone know of any good places to outsource article writing?
