Hi Jessica, thank you for your opinion about dofollow links, however, I respectfully disagree with your points as I think that everyone should be building links via dofollow and nofollow websites/blogs. It is important to maintain a balanced ration though; it should not be lopsided. More info from this article. And as far as search results is concerned, keyword optimization is the key to get on the first page of SERPs. It doesn't matter if your blog is new or has a low pagerank, as long as your blog or website has quality content and is optimized for long-tail keywords, you'll likely get get a good position from the SERPs.
